You Were Always on My Mind | Love on the Brain by Ali Hazelwood

As a fan of The Love Hypothesis, I really liked Ali Hazelwood's follow up, Love on the Brain. 

Bee Königswasser has just been given the opportunity of a lifetime to work at NASA on a groundbreaking project that could help astronauts in space. It's everything any neuroscientist like her could ever dream of and a testament to all the women in STEM she's admired and looked up to like her idol, Dr. Marie Curie. The problem is she would have to be working alongside her graduate school nemesis, Levi Ward. Bee always believed that Levi hated her based on how he tense he would seem whenever they were in the same room together. So, how come now that they're working side-by-side he is actually really nice to her and more supportive of her role on the project unlike most of her fellow male colleagues? Maybe after all this time Levi wasn't a jerk and she had it all wrong?

What's Scarier Than Serial Killers? | Love in the Time of Serial Killers by Alicia Thompson

I like it when books really explore a character, especially in romance. The characters are not just there to fall in love. They have layers and their own growth is as important to the story as is the romance part. That’s what I liked the most about Alicia Thompson’s Love in the Time of Serial Killers. It’s not your typical romance, and there are some dark themes that the author acknowledges, but it has a character who is so much more than she seems and is just as worthy of love as anyone else.

Conning an Illusion | Counterfeit by Kirstin Chen

There are times when you go into a book expecting it to be one thing, but then it surprises you by giving you just a little bit more beyond its plot. That’s how I felt with Kirstin Chen’s Counterfeit. This book begins with a fascinating look into the counterfeit luxury goods industry told from an outsider’s perspective. Then as the story progresses, it becomes more of a character exploration littered with underlying themes about success and status in America.
